Before moving to Mountain Home we owned a tire and automotive business in Oklahoma and “stumbled” into Mtn. Home for the first time in 1986 when one of our parts suppliers headquartered here held an open house. At that time, without realizing it we were ready for a lifestyle change and ended up becoming “Arkiefied Okies” in January 1988.

We were also ready for a career change. But what? It had to be a service oriented without huge inventory requirements. We looked at several types of businesses and almost bought one. We (especially Ken) had always had a high level of interest in landscape work, plant propagation, and production. BINGO!!!! After researching the business aspects, we decided to start and build our own landscape contracting business in late 1988. Our contracting business grew rapidly and in 1995 we built and opened a nursery. Now Ken had a proper place to propagate and grow plants of very high quality. Eventually almost 50% of the woody plants sold in our nursery were grown on location from liners and cuttings.

As every business is constantly changing, we sold the nursery in late 2003 to enable us to concentrate on and expand our landscape maintenance and hydro-mulching (turfgrass installation) business.

Since that time we have become the most comprehensive landscape maintenance provider in north Arkansas. Our services not only include fertilizing and pesticide application services, but we also provide an array of specialty landscape services.

We have two children.  Our son Matt is an officer in the U.S. Air Force, he is married to Cathy, and they have four children.  Our daughter, Jonnie is currently a sophomore at ASU Mountain Home, and her goal is to go into the ministry.
